Ivar Vong, one of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication superstars developed a cool service so those of you without iPhones can pretend that you have one, and/or that you’re cool.
Here’s how it works.
- Figure out what you want to eat, “Burrito, beer, sushi, Asians . . .” (in Eugene)
- Text that word to (541) 516-1633.
- Stare at your phone.
A magical program will send the address and phone number of one of Yelp’s top 20 results to your phone.
Fun fact: “Women” returned “REI.” Not my first pick, but ok.
It still needs a little work but it’s cool in my book anyways.

Thanks! Not so magic: https://github.com/dailyemerald/YelpTwilio/blob/master/yelptwilio.js
